As an economic sociologist, Dan Krier's research bridges the interdisciplinary areas bounded by sociology, economics and business. Krier's book, Speculative Management: Stock Market Power and Corporate Change (forthcoming SUNY Press), examines collusive relationships between top corporate executives and large shareholders who manipulated stock prices by restructuring American corporations in the late 20th century. Krier is completing a second book, Financial Casinos: Speculative Capitalism and Its Consequences (Worth/St. Martins), conceptualizing the social structure of speculative markets (in real estate, commodities and securities) in global capitalism. In addition to political economy, Krier's teaching and research specialities include theory, organizations and social change.
